2024 Year in Review
TL;DR video that is 15 mins hahaha….
Here we are again!
Another year in review-
So much has happened.
In numbers, lessons and moments.
First, thank you to the incredible friends and family I was so fortunate to share this past year with. It was a year I truly cherished because of the people. I am so lucky to be surrounded by you all. This year was my first full year of living in Seattle on my own which is a huge thing. I completed my first year of grad school and started my second. I traveled and spent many hours laughing with friends. I learned So. Many. Things.
1. Love
Something I went into 2024 looking for was love. I am a sap at heart. Of course I want a storybook kinda love story and I got it, but from the unexpected. From my friends, family and most importantly myself. Falling in love with who I am is really special. I never looked at myself through the rose colored glasses I deserved. I felt love for myself through the love I was pouring into the things I did. I fell in love with the mundane. I fell in love with the thought and care I was spending doing what I love. So something I really am going to take with me into 2025, is to love more things and if you’re looking for a sign of something beautiful, you will find it.
2. Humility and gratitude
A couple years ago I started a list of things that really humble me. In 2024, I embraced those moments. Real growth comes from the moments of humility. A reminder that we are all just human, we all can experience human things and it’s okay. Humility really opens your perspective. And with that, gratitude. When you are grateful for more things, more things will come your way. Be grateful for the things that humble you. Grateful for those that surround you with their love and light, including yourself.
3. Heal that inner child
Let that inner child live and breathe and be free. If this year truly taught me anything. It was this. That inner child in you is innocent and pure and they deserve the light of day. I remember when I was a child and spent hours curled up with a book. For years, I lost that joy. This year my lovely friend, Gaby, really got me into a series that is just fun to read. Fun to escape reality into. I also really embraced doing things that brought me joy: learning new things, taking classes, scrapbooking, making videos. Really, just do the things that bring you joy.
2024 was for the girls. Very Cutesy. Very Demure.
I mean look at all our albums
Thanks to her manager Blue Ivy, we got Cowboy Carter from Beyonce
Billie Eilish’s album
Felt very brat with Charlie XCX
Domingo and all the girlies were very caffeinated with Sabrina’s album
And don’t forget to keep dancing at the pink pony club, Chappel roan says it best.
Rachel Zegler said gimme gimme but gave an iconic Elsie fest performance. We held space for wicked. WHICH AGAIN, heal that inner child. My love for MT has been brought back. Someone cast me in a musical. Please. Please.
We had the US girlies KILLING it in the Olympics. Simone biles, Jordan Chiles, Sunlisa Lee from women's gymnastics- That team, are you kidding me. Ilona Maher, Katie Ledecky, Tara Davis-Woodhall, Sha'Carri Richardson.
We had House of Dragon!
And our iconic Moo Deng!
Honestly, I think what inspired me the most this year was the badassery of women. The women that showed up and showed out all year long.
So why shouldn’t I show up and show out!
Let’s break down the numbers:
This year I was in 5 productions, making my Seattle and University of Washington debut.
Many hours of rehearsals, training and performances.
14 Characters played
So many quick changes
A handful of wardrobe malfunctions
1 Bubble wrap cape (Are you kidding me?!)
A devised murder mystery musical.
26 productions attended
1 Solo show that had 6 different drafts which I shared at UW, in Denver at a Coffee shop Tonantzin Casa de Café and for Alameda’s drama troupe.
So proud of my artistic life. I love creating art and sharing it.
As Danielle Deadwyler says in Los angeles times round table:
Your real life is always in conversation with your artistic life,
I wouldn’t be able to create my art if it wasn’t for the real life I got to experience.
Listened to 6,192 minutes of audio books
Read 4,267 pages
Squated so many pounds
Traveled to Canada and 4 states this year
Had 7 friends from home hang out with me in Seattle
Hid in one closet to make a surprise appearance
